From the top of Sierra Espuña…Our adventure
Tuesday, January 31st, 2012A group of our owners at Condado De Alhama took themselves this week on a walking/driving adventure of the Sierra Espuña. Many people go to the beaches and the coves in the region of Murcia but very few take the short drive to the national park in the Espuñas. Luckily, our friends had their cameras handy and were able to share some of their pictures and tales with us.

Alicia and Ken Saunders

The wild boars pictured above were seen at the Fuente del Hilo restaurant where you can enjoy a menu del dia for just 8 Euros…main course Pork! or you enjoy the picnic area with plenty of BBQ stands.
Continuing further up the mountain you come to the ice houses..
then all the way to the top, to what looks like a white ball from Condado on top of the mountain,
Pedro Lopez which is near the weather station/military base.
¨We got to march with the military for a short while, the views were spectacular, it was the best day out we have ever had in Murcia¨ Oh and did we mention the wild life…the Barbary Sheep and the Eagles..
If you prefer a more guided tour, contact Mark at Hotel Mariposa, he provides winter guided tours of the Espuñas, walking, quad biking and kayak, contact details to the right of this page Experience Espuña.
If you haven´t visited the mountains in the area yet, take it from our friends here, it is well worth the day, young and old alike will find something to wow them. Good old fashioned running, climbing and jumping for the kids..
It can be a little chilly at the top of the mountain in the winter, so wrap up warm. In the summer months you will enjoy the welcome relief from the heat walking amongst the pine trees.
Thank you to Ken and Alicia and our other friends for providing the pictures and their experience for us to share with you.
Submit your holiday pictures and favourite places to us. Show and Tell..go on. And lets discover all of Murcia together in 2012.

As an alternative this weekend, how about a night out at Hotel Mariposa for an evening of dancing to the sounds of Martin Ross.
Our live podcast from Condado this week featured Hotel Mariposa and our experience of the Quad biking tour. We had a fabulous day and would recommend it to anyone, young and old. Very safe, very controlled to your level of comfort, and scenery you couldn’t see from a car makes this day something you should add to your must do list.
