This Friday the Spanish schools break up for the long hot summer and the weather looks like it is going to play along with temperatures set to stay nicely in the low 30s all next week.

This picture was taken last weekend at Bolnuevo beach in Mazarron, and as you can see tourists and locals are flocking to the beaches to enjoy the sun, sand and sea. The beach bar huts are set and the beer and sangria on tap is still just a Euro!

The Mediterranean is warm enough now for even the timid to swim…  so where better to kick off the summer holidays than the Costa Calida.

Condado De Alhama resort is only 20 minutes from the coast, 20 minutes from the Sierra Espuña national park and 20 minutes from the city of Murcia.  Happy days, Happy holidays!

Condado De Alhama has a speed limit in force to match all other residential towns and villages in Spain. 30KM per hour within the inner ring road, which means when you pass through the security gate the speed limit drops from 50KM to 30KM.

Looking at the road in the picture you can see how tempting it is to drive fast..but please remember there are children around every corner. Quite roads give kids a false sense of security, they are not used to seeing traffic on them so they simply stop looking, and children are not the only problem..British people in general tend to look the wrong way for on coming traffic, especially when leaving the bars.

30KM per hour is very slow, but if we follow the speed limit we can be sure no one will get hurt on the roads this summer season.

Cumpleaños Feliz! Well it doesn’t seem like yesterday but it has been a year since Cinco Sabores, the ice cream parlour at Al Kasar, Condado De Alhama opened it´s doors for the first time.

The ice cream parlour over the last year has been very popular with the kids who daily leave the swimming pools for a walk to Al Kasar for one of Cinco Sabores fabulous ice creams.

Cinco sabores do not have a food menu but they do have ice cold beer, freshly squeezed orange juice, tostadas and cakes, and the very popular iced coffees with or without alcohol..if you   haven´t tried these yet give them a go….

We have a few birthdays coming up on Condado in the coming weeks as our bars and restaurants turn a year, Sabores is closely followed by Bokao and La Cata. All of which have made it through the winter season and are now gearing up for the summer. Support our bars and restaurants, make a habit of crawling around, they all have something different to offer you.

June 2nd at The Condado Club

The Fund RaisingTeam for CPR has arranged an event to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II Sunday 2nd June at 2pm at the Condado Club. The Big Lunch is a very simple idea from the Eden Project. The aim is to get as many people as possible across the whole of the UK to have lunch with their neighbours once a year in a simple act of community, friendship and fun. As we have many UK nationals here on Condado De Alhama we are joining in and inviting all our neighbours to our very own..Big Lunch.

At our Big Lunch you are all invited to bring a plate of food to share “American supper style” you will then be issued with a receipt and able to take part.  The Condado Club will also be organising a BBQ for anyone who wishes to buy their food.

The entertainment on the day will be provided at the Condado Club and the Clover Bar by Lennie Mitchell and Gareth the DJ.  Many thanks for this generous donation and use of their premises again.

Events organised by the fundraising committee for the day include: A Climbing wall, face painting, crazy golf, and a bring and buy sale.

Paramount Alhama De Murcia this week received it´s final full approval from the Alhama Council to commence with construction.

Jesus Samper, still see´s the opening of the park to be in 2015. He remains confident that he can meet this deadline despite the delayed start.

Flagship Projects (Premursa) has assured also in local newspapers and television that investors have already given the ‘yes’ to provide capital to the theme park in Alhama.

It has been announced that next week Premursa will meet with the four developers who have shown, in writing, their interest in performing the works (Dragados, OHL, FCC and Ferrovial), which will be given until June 30th to submit their deals. “We have set July 15th to determine the winner of the development works” so that said, work could begin in late August or early September. Samper explained that the works are divided into three parts: the special plan of infrastructure and access, ground movement and urbanization LifeStyle Center and finally, the development, implementation and earthmoving for what will be the Paramount Park.

The design of the entire Paramount Park is now 95 percent complete, in fact Jesus Samper explained that “for ten days I was in Los Angeles where I did a virtual tour of what will be the park “.

The American company Paramount love Alhama De Murcia, comparing it to California and said that, in some respects Alhama is even better. With the mountains and the sea in close proximity, the topography and the climate is very similar also.

Will Alhama De Murcia be Spain´s California in just a few years?

We will have to wait and see as the development of hotels, casinos and the Paramount theme park begin to take shape at the bottom of the Carrascoy mountain later this year.

The bus will now leave Condado de Alhama from the Al Kasar parking lot EVERY day at 10AM to take you to different regional destinations daily, Alhama, Cartagena, the port in Mazarron and into the city of Murcia for the market on Thursdays. Take a look at the timetable by clicking on the picture to enlarge it and make a date to take the bus. It is a valuable service and one that I am sure will be popular in the summer months.

Of all the markets in the area I have never been to the Murcia City market on Thursday, it is supposed to be very good and well worth a trip. Cartagena is a well known tourist destination but parking is a little difficult and can be expensive so taking the bus will be a perfect option to discover this wonderful city. The port of Mazarron has way too many good bars to risk driving, so another good option. The bus will actually go the the port of Mazarron twice a week so that you can now enjoy the restaurants and beach without hiring a car during your vacation.
