It´s time to think about FLYSCREENS

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

It´s that time of year when the flies come out, and in…if you don´t have flyscreens installed on your home.

Kevin Flyscreens has been working on Condado De Alhama for 4 years and in the area of Murcia for over 15 years. He can install quality aluminium screen doors on your front and back sliding doors as seen above..or in brown for your upstairs entry door. These screen doors are the real deal, they are the same quality as the glass door frames but have an insect screen and are fitted neatly in front of your existing door, so you can open your doors wide without the worry and nuisance of flys and insects. These door and window screens are custom made for a perfect fit.

Kevins work and quality cannot be beat in the area. If you want the best quality, a quality that will last, don´t settle for cheap imitations that will only last the year, give Kevin a call on +34 616 984 652. It is time to think about it now as all the suppliers close for the whole of August in Murcia so don´t wait till it´s too late.

Penthouse Flower Boxes.. What should I plant?

Friday, January 20th, 2012

Osteospermum pictured at Penthouse 12

Penthouses on Condado including those on La Isla are equipped with lovely flower boxes to bring some colour to the terraces, but what should you plant, and what survives the extreme heat of summer and the cold mornings and evenings of the winter?

We have been taking care of penthouses for 3 years now and can now tell you what will survive with monthly watering and thrive through all the seasons at Condado.

One of the prettiest flowering plants you can plant for survival is the Osteospermum. These do well in pots even though they are a ground cover. They will spread fast, do very well with a monthly soaking and will grow to hang over the box.

Felicia Amelloides commonly sold in garden centres locally

Another beautiful flowering plant perfect for penthouse survival is the hardy Felicia Amelloides, the beautiful flower and vagrant leaves on this plant can also be be found easily in garden centres locally.

Cactus and succulent plants are another choice that can produce some stunning shapes and colours and they don´t always have to hurt when you brush up against them. Always check out the cactus area of the local garden centre for some beautiful selections.

When you plant in the flower boxes give them plenty of drainage using lava rocks, these prove to be the most successful. Adding lava small rocks will also be welcome for your neighbours below. This rock will not shed gravel and the plants will love their ability to hold moisture.

Have fun planting and being creative with your pots and flower boxes. If you own a garden apartment and want to plant in pots, go for large, well drained clay pots, these will protect the roots against burning in the summer and will hold the moisture if you only have monthly watering. Add some little lava rocks to these too to add some extra protection.

Condado De Alhama Club House…so what´s really going on.

Friday, January 13th, 2012

The Condado Golf Club House has been causing some good conversation amongst owners and guests at Condado De Alhama. Everyone agrees we need one, everyone knows we will get one, but how, what and when has been the question.

IRM have applied for the license with Alhama council to move the old sales office of Polaris World onto the golf course close to the first Tee. The time frame for moving the building and putting the plans into place depends on the speed of Alhama council to issue the documentation needed to commence with the project. Once complete, the club house will comprise of the Pro shop, dressing area and a small cafe/bar area, it will have landscaped patios and a balcony where you will be able to sit and enjoy the beautiful view of the golf course.

The lack of the club house is the only thing stopping the Jack Nicklaus Signature course at Condado De Alhama  rating as one of the best in Spain…IRM are aware of the importance of a club house to the resort and to the golf course and will deliver the finished product just as soon as they can.

The club house has been promised before, but owners and guests have to realize the changes that have taken place in the last 2 years on Condado, it takes as much time for new plans as it did for the old ones but one thing is clear,.the end of the road for this project is  now in sight.

Happy Christmas Friends and Family of Condado De Alhama

Saturday, December 24th, 2011

Happy Christmas from Sunny Spain. Bright blue skies and very warm daytime temperatures have some changing their plans for Christmas day, opting to head to one of the many beaches to enjoy the relaxation of the day. If you prefer something a little more traditional Murcia is steeped with tradition and Christmas like many other periods of the year in this happy city is a time for fiesta.

Christmas time also brings craftwork exhibitions and musical concerts. The squares and churches of Murcia fill up with Belenes, the traditional nativity scene in Murcia, which is internationally recognised. Markets are set up and the traditional Three Wise Men parade takes place, not to be missed, together with other Christmas activities, bringing festive joy to locals and visitors.

Feliz Navidad y Feliz Año Nuevo

Condado De Alhama A look at our year 2011

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

2011 has been a great year at Condado De Alhama. I am sure all the old time owners would say the best ever!

Looking back over the year we saw Paramount and the weather dominating January and February, with temperatures hitting 30 degrees on February 26th 2011 and Paramount making it´s first formal announcements to build Paramount Murcia only 5 Km from Condado De Alhama.  A good start.

March and April, the pools opened and someone was spotted taking a dip..worthy of headline news. The restaurant and bar opened for the Easter holidays and the resort began to see record numbers of visitors.

May we had our first free golf for owners tournament sponsored by Mileniun Levante, we came together as a community and raised money for little Imogen and a sheep wandered into to Jardin 1.

A big earthquake devastated Lorca and shook a few of our visitors on May 11th. Also in May, we were issued our magnetic entry cards, making entry to the resort quicker and easier for owners. Then our first Mileniun Levante planned trip to Alhama by coach for the first of the summer fiestas.

June our new mobile app was released for Android phones, a nice gift to us and all our readers from Ray in Naranjos 4. And the official news was released that IRM were now the proud owners of Al Kasar.

Get your android app here.

July OUR very own Market… our own fiesta.. things were buzzing on Condado thanks to Mileniun Levante who went way and beyond their duties in 2011 to make this resort a place everyone would talk about and look forward to returning to in 2012.

The July fiesta was amazing! A free Paella for everyone set up in a huge tent, our first ever community dinner… Lots of entertainment and Sara ran her first football tournament.

August, the summer parties and fiestas continued this time with a medieval theme,,, A huge medieval market filled Al Kasar with Camels wandering around, lots of food drink, entertainment and games. The kids of Condado put on a show…..and the atmosphere at Condado was amazing….All the parties were organized by Mileniun and couldn´t have been better.

September, with the help from…you guessed it Mileniun Levante we finally were offered a community internet package available to owners at only 4.75 a month, the deal was done, we just needed 500 owners to sign up, the community was quick to sign up when the announcement was made. A massive saving a big move forward for the resort. If that didn´t rock your world another little earthquake did on September 26th.

October, It´s open, the sports and leisure centre opened under new ownership. The commercial areas on Condado were made available with no restrictions and owners from Jardin 1 took the plunge and bought us The Condado Club. Cafe, with excellent home made food, a function room for parties and the sports facilities. This social hub will be home to all kinds of kids activities in 2012 elevating the resort again.

November, a time for change. The new owners of the Al Kasar close the existing units to get ready for new ownership. This is expected to take place in the near future.

December…A quiet end to a busy year. New Years eve party tickets on sale now and running out fast so make sure to reserve yours NOW.

That has been the highlights of our year on Condado De Alhama. It has been a good one and I am sure you all agree, the best yet. It was not till I started to look back over the year that I realized what a difference good administrators make to a resort. We have the best!

Happy Christmas Condado and thank you Mileniun Levante our administrators for going above and beyond to make it all possible.

Kevin Flyscreens, it’s almost fly season….

Sunday, April 3rd, 2011

Kevin Flyscreens

It is almost fly season in Murcia so it’s time to start thinking about getting flyscreens installed. We have chosen to go with a flyscreen that is of the same quality as the patio door. A high quality aluminium door that will last the duration of years to come. Flyscreens come in many different qualities but with this product you really do get what you pay for. We are very happy with our selection, not the cheapest on the market but definitely the best. Kevin has been working on Condado De Alhama installing screens, repairing shutters and supplying great under stair enclosures amongst other services for the last three years but has been in business in the Murcia area for many more.
