Condado de Alhama’s Golf Association breaks another record outing. With 48 Association player’s out on the Jack Nicklaus  designed Golf course Friday, it is gaining more members by the week. With more and more Owners arriving in the coming weeks their numbers will surely swell. If you want to join up and play, everyone meets at the Clover on Wednesday night which is located in the Resorts Town Center, the Al Kasar, then play on Fridays. If you don’t play it is still a great time to meet other owners. The Jack Nicklaus designed course having been opened for play for only 9 months and is getting great reviews. More Pro tournaments are scheduled for its second  year. The course is being managed by Olagolf, which has 25 years of experience in Golf Course Management and promotion in Spain.

If you are at Condado De Alhama and happen to pass the office of Mileniun Levante, the company responsible for the successful running of the resort, you will notice a list in the front window. This list comprises of all owners that have not paid their cuota/administration fees, this is common practice in Spain to publish non payers publicly, this is the first step in what appears to be a pretty quick collection procedure.

In Spain all owners in urbanizations must pay a cuota/fee, to maintain the area/resort in the condition expected by all owners and guests and as set out in the by laws of the community known as the statutes. It is the responsibility of the owner of a property to pay and make effort to pay their administration fees. It is not as some would voice and believe the responsibility of the administrator to chase and capture all owners.

Spanish Law as it reads;

Obligation Of Owner To Pay Fees

If you are part of a legal Community, you are obliged to pay the fees.

Right Of Community To Collect The Fees

The Community is granted the right by the law to collect them.

Seizure Of Property For Non-Payment Of Fees

The courts may now in an abbreviated procedure place an “embargo” (a seizure) on the inscription of a property for unpaid Community fees, and later even place it for sale at public auction.

The law also protects it residents against anti social behavior of neighbors. An owner that needs an ASBO.. will get one in Spain. I read an article recently in which a man reported as playing his music too loud night after night, refusing all requests to lower it, ignoring police requests and making an antisocial nuisance of himself was eventually banned from visiting his own apartment for three years by the courts in Spain. The ultimate punishment for being a noisy neighbor.

UPDATE

The sign has now gone that was in the window and we have been advised that some of the owners listed in the window only need to update e mail information with the administration, but, the law on the matter still stands and you are urged as an owner to contact Mileniun to update your information, and keep our resort looking 1st class by checking your bank account payments and making sure you are paying your administration fees.

Condado de Alhama’s Polaris World Supermarket stocks up for the next wave of holiday makers. The market which is located in the town center of  Al Kasar has been busy the last couple of weeks. More staff on hand and truck loads of food items to keep it running smoothly, the Polaris World Supermarket is a very busy place this time of year. The fresh made bread is a fast seller and seems to be baked all day long on site. English magazines and newspapers on stock along with all the postcards and books one may need to round out the holiday. Internet service is also provided for use inside the supermarket, so you can check up on your email or facebook account while the shopping is being done. Oh yeah forgot to mention the parking. There is 200 plus spaces to park in front of the market, with about half a dozen handicap spaces right up front. So if your an owner or coming on holiday, its all good.

Polaris Telecom have some new service offers for the summer of 2010. With faster speeds available and lower rates a lot of owners and guests might find themselves wanting to get the all important life line installed in their apartments. Internet is something that most people expect when they come away on holiday and of course it is available on the public computers in the supermarket area, although no WIFI area is up and working yet on the resort.

Polaris now have several options for internet in your apartments starting at the basic monthly service of 15 Euros which includes a year contract with a 1MB connection speed, perfectly adequate to check e mails, play on facebook and chat using Skype. If you prefer not to have a contract you can now connect your apartment to the internet as and when you need it for only 32 Euros 3MB unlimited a month on the pay as you go program.

It is good to see this development from Polaris Telecom, I think with this offer we may see a few frustrating dongles floating in the pools. Be aware of anyone offering a one time connection fee and free internet, such a service legally, does not exist in Murcia.

So, the Spanish have a tradition of running the bulls through town and everyone can play tag with them on the way to the Bull fighting arena, ok. Sounds like a great adrenaline rush. But some times it can go sideways on you. Then I guess thats when you stop doing this practice and become a spectator.

Today will be warm in Spain and that is why we all love this part of Europe. 39 Provinces are on high heat alert in Spain Thursday. The Province of Jaen is expected to reach 44C which puts it in Red Alert. 18 Provinces are listed today to be on the Orange Alert which include  Malaga, Granada, Zaragoza, Toledo and the southern areas of Madrid. 35 are expected to be in the Yellow Alert. Some of those 35 listed are Almeria, Cordoba, Seville, Murcia, Alicante, Valencia,Valladolid, Zamora and Catalonia.

Today we see the hottest day of the year here at Condado De Alhama, temperatures soar to 42 Degrees after a couple of cool days. In Murcia a heat advisory is put into place at 38 Degrees.

The government asks that with such high temperatures the public is to take particular care of children and pensioners who are more likely to suffer from heatstroke. The intake of plenty of water is recommended, as is a reduction in physical activity and the wearing of light-coloured clothing.

So, take it easy, no problem…drink at least a 8oz of room temperature water every hour. Stay out of the direct sun, lower all the window shutters to keep it cool inside the house and eat small easy to digest meals, preferably fresh fruits and vegetables.

A common summer meal in this part of Spain is Gazpacho, very good for helping your body cope in the heat. You can pick it up at the Polaris World supermarket or any supermarket in the area. Gazpacho is similar to V8, serve chilled as a nutritious drink or add raw vegetables, peppers, celery, onions and a little cubed duck for a delicious easy to digest summer meal. Add vodka to it at night to make a healthy happy drink, bound to put a smile on your face.

If you don’t have enough sun in your life to stay out of it or cover up, enjoy one of the many swimming pools on the resort that remain very cool all year long.
