Al Kasar has been blessed with a new addition of Olive trees. They were being positioned around the huge reflection pond this afternoon. Placed on the corners and  in between for a total of what looks like 20 potted Olive trees. This should add another feature for night pictures taken around the inside of Al Kasar. Tonight the Clover is having a party and the addition of this mini grove of trees will give us a great backdrop. Great move Polaris World.

Condado de Alhama’s Polaris World Supermarket stocks up for the next wave of holiday makers. The market which is located in the town center of  Al Kasar has been busy the last couple of weeks. More staff on hand and truck loads of food items to keep it running smoothly, the Polaris World Supermarket is a very busy place this time of year. The fresh made bread is a fast seller and seems to be baked all day long on site. English magazines and newspapers on stock along with all the postcards and books one may need to round out the holiday. Internet service is also provided for use inside the supermarket, so you can check up on your email or facebook account while the shopping is being done. Oh yeah forgot to mention the parking. There is 200 plus spaces to park in front of the market, with about half a dozen handicap spaces right up front. So if your an owner or coming on holiday, its all good.

Polaris World is now seeking summer employees for waiters. They are also seeking to employee  a chief, and  in the Condado de Alhama Golf Resort a bartender. Which is located 20 minutes or so from the Mediterranean Sea and an equal amount of distance from the Espuna Mountain. Olagolf have posted new numbers and email addresses for reserving green fees on the Polaris World built Golf Resorts, Condado de Alhama and Mar Menor. For Condado de Alhama the number is 968 32 80 08 and for Mar Menor the number is 968 04 17 65. The email address is reservasgolfalhama@olagolf.es which appears to be for both golf courses.

The golf association at Condado De Alhama meets every Wednesday night at The Clover from 7PM to 8PM and play on Fridays. Everyone is welcome to join in. This weeks winner was Martin from Naranjos 7.

So, the Spanish have a tradition of running the bulls through town and everyone can play tag with them on the way to the Bull fighting arena, ok. Sounds like a great adrenaline rush. But some times it can go sideways on you. Then I guess thats when you stop doing this practice and become a spectator.

Today will be warm in Spain and that is why we all love this part of Europe. 39 Provinces are on high heat alert in Spain Thursday. The Province of Jaen is expected to reach 44C which puts it in Red Alert. 18 Provinces are listed today to be on the Orange Alert which include  Malaga, Granada, Zaragoza, Toledo and the southern areas of Madrid. 35 are expected to be in the Yellow Alert. Some of those 35 listed are Almeria, Cordoba, Seville, Murcia, Alicante, Valencia,Valladolid, Zamora and Catalonia.

Today we see the hottest day of the year here at Condado De Alhama, temperatures soar to 42 Degrees after a couple of cool days. In Murcia a heat advisory is put into place at 38 Degrees.

The government asks that with such high temperatures the public is to take particular care of children and pensioners who are more likely to suffer from heatstroke. The intake of plenty of water is recommended, as is a reduction in physical activity and the wearing of light-coloured clothing.

So, take it easy, no problem…drink at least a 8oz of room temperature water every hour. Stay out of the direct sun, lower all the window shutters to keep it cool inside the house and eat small easy to digest meals, preferably fresh fruits and vegetables.

A common summer meal in this part of Spain is Gazpacho, very good for helping your body cope in the heat. You can pick it up at the Polaris World supermarket or any supermarket in the area. Gazpacho is similar to V8, serve chilled as a nutritious drink or add raw vegetables, peppers, celery, onions and a little cubed duck for a delicious easy to digest summer meal. Add vodka to it at night to make a healthy happy drink, bound to put a smile on your face.

If you don’t have enough sun in your life to stay out of it or cover up, enjoy one of the many swimming pools on the resort that remain very cool all year long.

Olagolf pro shop located in the Al Kasar at Condado De Alhama is now fully stocked with great looking golf attire. Following the take over of the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course it took Olagolf just a short while to stock the pro shop with everything guests and owners would expect.

This weeks Thursday night podcast we had Steven Mcgill visit us from Scotland he described the Jack Nicklaus course as “fantastic” and the prices, “very reasonable for the level of the golf course”. Big improvements have been noted in the maintenance of the golf course. Several green keepers  work everyday to obtain and maintain it as one of the best golf courses in Spain, as it was designed to be. There has been a big increase of staff at Condado on the golf course since Olagolf took over and if you haven’t been for a while you will be pleasantly surprised at the level of care this very deserving golf course is getting. As Steven said “money is being thrown at it now”. The golf course is still new, as it matures it will be on the list of many golfers from all over the world as a must play.
