Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th brings bad luck to the sun worshipers at Condado De Alhama. With yesterdays temperatures at 41 degrees it was a shock to wake up to the black clouds that hung over the resort today. Tonight nature is putting on a show of thunder and lightning with the rain threatening to stay around to till the morning. Fiesta plans for tomorrow will have a wet a start but this is Spain so it will be back to brilliant sunshine by afternoon. The temperature right now has dipped to 19 degrees so the storm will be one worth watching.

The flower power hippy night was a big success. If you missed it, you missed a great night. The party started at 10..ish, actually it was 11.30pm before the entertainment began but when it did everyone attending was very entertained. Spirits were high and flowing freely, the bar service was good and with three bars open it was much faster getting a drink.

A female singer, a DJ, and dancers whipped the crowds up quickly and kept them partying well into the early hours of the morning. A few fancy dress items were also being passed around for a bit of fun.

Condado de Alhama’s Golf Association breaks another record outing. With 48 Association player’s out on the Jack Nicklaus  designed Golf course Friday, it is gaining more members by the week. With more and more Owners arriving in the coming weeks their numbers will surely swell. If you want to join up and play, everyone meets at the Clover on Wednesday night which is located in the Resorts Town Center, the Al Kasar, then play on Fridays. If you don’t play it is still a great time to meet other owners. The Jack Nicklaus designed course having been opened for play for only 9 months and is getting great reviews. More Pro tournaments are scheduled for its second  year. The course is being managed by Olagolf, which has 25 years of experience in Golf Course Management and promotion in Spain.

Gardens in Spring

Spring is definitely here, and the gardens at Condado De Alhama are looking better by the day. The gardeners seem to be making every effort to comply with the order of the new administration to spruce up the gardens and have been working diligently this week to do just that. Our view out in to the garden has certainly improved. With more gardeners on the force and new machinery we look forward to watching them become everything they were designed to be.

Temperatures yesterday in the shade reached a whopping 30 Celsius and in the sun over 40 Celsius so Spring has sprung, the pools are filling up and we are gearing up for the busiest holiday season the resort has ever seen in it’s young life.

The crowd soon gathered today at Al Kasar at noon to try and get a place on the coach that is leaving Condado De Alhama Murcia for the UK Wednesday. With only 50 places available guests that did not have a deseparate need to return immidiately stood back allowing those that really needed to leave the chance to go home.

Even still there were still quite a few disappointed people that arrived a little late to find all the seats were gone..and some that felt much better about the situation given the sun shine this morning and made the decision to wait it out and have another game of golf or relax by the pool. Condado De Alhama is only one resort facing stranded guests, Mar Menor, La Torre and Camposol also have people increasingly anxious to get home to work or loved ones.

The podcast has been cancelled for tonight, we are off at Mar Menor enjoying the benefits of the Polaris World Club Card. So far we have had a fantastic time and urge you if you have a card to take them up on the offers that come with it.

If you arrived in Murcia today you would have been greeted by full sun and 27 Celsius. A fabulous day for golf.

Someone does the happy dance while on Hole 11, the not so happy dance… this hole always proves itself to be a real challenge and major source of frustration for some.

Today Pedro Alberto Cruz, the Minister of Culture and Tourism in Murcia told National Radio in Spain, “The project to build a theme park and a film studio in Murcia by Paramount Pictures are not promises in the air, but something that actually has pretty solid foundation.”

He asks for a little peace in the media in order for Murcia and Paramount to keep negotiations on track but adds,

“Hopefully in the coming months we can say we have signed with Paramount Pictures and this has ceased to become a dream and has now become a reality.”

I think following this radio announcement we may see a quite spell in the media, but quite does not mean not happening. If it does goes quite we will continue to search and when an announcement is made we will bring you the news as it happens.
